70년대 팝을 얘기하면서 딥퍼플을 빼놓을 순 없습니다. 맴버 교체가 잦아 1기에서 8기까지로 분류되는 여러 딥퍼플 중에서도 2기 맴버들이 이 그룹을 전성기로 이끈 인물들입니다.

Ritchie Blackmore가 기타를 맡았고, 드럼에  Ian Paise, 키보드엔 John Lord, 베이스에 Roger Glover 그리고 Ian Gillan이 보컬을 담당한 바로 그 때죠. 이 시기에 만들어진 곡들이 그 유명한 Highway Star, Smoke on the Water, Child in Time 같은, 앨범 'In Rock'의 명곡들입니다.
